Amazing Electric Wonders, indeed! This would’ve been a good show to have attended, right? We’ve only got audio evidence of the Dead’s set (as far as I know), but it’s an awesome tape, to be sure. Dig an extremely haunted “Death Don’t Have No Mercy,” a way out “Cryptical > Other One” and an ecstatic “Alligator.” What did the Los Angelenos in the crowd think of these acid-fried San Franciscans? Who knows? Neither Stills nor Young comes out to jam, but they were probably watching in the wings, shaking their heads in disbelief.
Choice cut: The closing “Caution” into “Feedback” is mind-melting. DeadSkronk!
